Hard on the heels of my recently-posted review of VIZIO’s P65-F1 Ultra HD TV is their top-line model, the PQ65-F1 Quantum.

In fact, the same truck that picked up the P65 also dropped off the PQ65. What’s the difference? Quite a bit I’d say.

For starters, the Quantum features a 192-zone full array local dimming LED backlight with a quantum dot film. It delivers an honest 2000 nits (yes, I’ve already checked) and covers nearly 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. That should make for some killer HDR and beautifully saturated color. It supports HDR10, Hybrid Log Gamma, and Dolby Vision content. Streaming fans will enjoy the latest version of VIZIO’s SmartCast interface along with built-in ChromeCast and integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Don’t want to use the bundled remote? Just download the SmartCast app and use your phone’s touchscreen.

The PQ65-F1 asks for a $1000 premium over the P65-F1. While that is a lot of money, the Quantum costs just $2200. Considering the performance delivered here, it’s a steal. I spent much more than that on a Pioneer Elite plasma nearly 10 years ago. Displays have gone through some major evolution since the dawn of 1080p back in 2006. This latest offering from VIZIO looks to be one of the best televisions I’ve ever reviewed. Watch this space for my full test results and viewing impressions coming soon!
