Martin Logan Statement 40XW In-Wall Loudspeaker Preview

Martin Logan is well known for its electrostatic lineup of loudspeakers which they have been crafting for decades. They have received countless rave reviews for building state-of-the-art designs and are constantly pushing the sound quality envelope.

In April 2022, Secrets Co-Editor Carlo Lo Raso reached out to ascertain if any of us were up to the task of reviewing a pair of Martin Logan’s assault on state-of-the-art sound combined with a décor friendly in- wall loudspeaker. Due to their very nature, the review would be a challenge.

The 40XWs are something special: each comes with 40 uber-high-quality drivers per cabinet. They stand seven feet tall and have extensive engineering behind them. The design goals were to make an in-wall speaker that could deliver sound quality in one’s room that was equal to today’s finest floor stander loudspeakers.

Over a period of four months, the 40XWs have been subject to an extensive series of listening tests to determine just how well Martin Logan did in pulling off this seemingly impossible task. The review is complete and will publish in the next few weeks. *Spoiler alert* They were worth the effort it took to review them, and even if you are not in the market for $50,000 loudspeakers, it will be a fun read.
