The Cliffwood is the newest “entry level high end” turntable from longtime audiophile turntable specialist VPI.

AudioShield is VPI’s recommended aftermarket dust cover partner, and the AS300 was recommended to me for the Cliffwood.

VPI assembles the Cliffwood turntable ($1200 as tested with AudioShield AS300 dust cover) themselves in the USA. Most of the Cliffwood’s component parts are also American. The motor is from Mexico. VPI named this turntable after their hometown, Cliffwood, NJ. AudioShield advertises the AS300 dustcover as “100% made in the United States of America.”

The VPI Cliffwood turntable has a machined aluminum platter. The Cliffwood’s 9″ machined aluminum gimbal tonearm comes pre-mounted with a VPI/Grado Green moving iron cartridge. Its plinth is vinyl-clad MDF. Other included accessories are a turntable mat and spare belt.

The AudioShield AS300 dust cover is made of thick, clear acrylic that appears to be of high quality. The AS300 fits completely over the turntable and rests on your shelf rather than the turntable plinth. It has three notches: one in the back for cables, and two on the sides for handholds.

I’m looking forward to spinning the black (and red, and blue, and clear) circles on the VPI Cliffwood turntable, and reporting back to you!
