They add substantial impact to movies and the lowest octave frequencies to music. So I was really excited for the opportunity to experience the SVS PB16-Ultra subwoofer in my home theater! But first, we had to get this almost 200-pound “muscle-sub” delivered and into the theater.
First, I have to inform you that 18- wheelers cannot get to my location, in the hills on the San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula. So for years, I have had the big shipments off-loaded to a local carrier with a small bobtail truck that can navigate the narrow and windy roads. Fortunately, we have developed a relationship with some local outfits that have become accustomed to delivering to my location.

So on a lovely sunny and cool day in early November, the bobtail arrived.
Maneuvering the 200-pound load down the entryway and into the theater lab, one of the venues where I audition and test equipment, was a challenging task, but the delivery team was up to the task!
The subwoofer arrived extremely well packed and on a pallet. Once inside all of us were eager to see the beast….and so the unveiling!
Very impressive. And now to the audition!
After spending a few weeks with the PB-16 Ultra I can say that the SVS PB16-Ultra subwoofer is a world-class bargain. It has low distortion (about 2%) with 20 Hz even at 100 dB SPL. With 4 of them, you could open your own commercial theater. Guardians of the Galaxy would shine like the North Star.
The PB-16 Ultra is truly one Bad Ass sub!
Stay tuned! My full review will be published in a few weeks.
