Crawl alligator biting helicopter scene

Commentary

Though Sam Raimi was a producer, this film took itself a bit too seriously. The plot was predictable, the acting marginal and the alligators too CGI looking. The idea of giant gators mucking around in your basement is a bit silly and the water down there was a bit too clean. I know it helped you see what’s going on, but really? Crystal clear? And then there was the scene where the mother gators nest is revealed reminded me of Aliens…only more poorly done. Near the end, I was looking at my watch. Not a good sign. My advice? Crawl away from this stinker.

Technical

The picture was good with good lighting, even in the basement. The color palette tended more towards blue in tone, which was fitting for all of the water you saw. As mentioned, the CGI was not up to par with most other movies, even with similar budgets. Sound was excellent with violent winds whipping the rain around.

Extras

Over 45 minutes of extras here including a motion comic alternate opening, which is actually quite violent, a plethora of deleted and extended scenes…and of course, a DVD copy of the film is included.
