Sabian’s Vault series, from their description, represents cymbals that came about through experimentation. Some work out, and others get tossed back into the melting pot. The present review is on the 18″ Vault V-Crash. It has an intense bright sound that will cut through guitar amp stacks. It also rides well and has an excellent bell sound.

The close-up photo shows that the cymbal is finely lathed from the bell out to the edge of the cymbal. There appear to be hammer marks in concentric circles rather than in random locations. The hammer marks are small and not very deep.
There are peaks at 480 Hz (you can hear this tone in the sound sample), 1.3 kHz, 1.6 kHz, 1.8 kHz, and the largest ones at 2.5 kHz and 5.1 kHz. The sound slowly rolls off to 60 kHz.
The peak of the crash occurs at 0.14 seconds with a moderate decay speed. This is a relatively fast crash cymbal.
