MartinLogan ElectroMotion ESL-X and Motion 60XT with Marantz (Bristol B Room)

ESL X

The MartinLogan ElectroMotion ESL X features a 40 x 8.6-inch Curvilinear Line Source (CLS) XStat™ electrostatic transducers with advanced microperf stator technology and dual 8-inch low-distortion fiber cone woofers. One of MartinLogan’s original breakthroughs, CLS™ (Curvilinear Line Source) technology, has been an essential ingredient of every electrostatic loudspeaker we’ve produced—and the ElectroMotion ESL X is no exception. Proprietary manufacturing methods enable construction of electrostatic panels as cylindrical sections.

Their gentle horizontal curvature solves the problem of obtaining good high-frequency dispersion from a large radiating surface without compromising overall sound quality or reliability.

The MartinLogan Motion 60XT features an advanced-resolution 1.25 x 2.4 Folded Motion XT tweeter, 6.5-inch aluminum cone mid-frequency driver, and two 8-inch aluminum cone woofers. The signature Folded Motion XT tweeter found in he Motion 60XT utilizes an extremely low mass diaphragm that “squeeze” air, and require significantly less excursion than the typical 1-inch dome tweeter, which drastically minimizes distortion while providing a lightning fast response time. The increased surface area also provides a wide, yet controlled sound dispersion to create a realistic and carefully etched sound stage.

Motion 60XT Speakers

MartinLogan will be demonstrating the ElectroMotion ESL X ($4,999/pair CAD retail) and Motion 60XT ($3,499/pair CAD retail) with electronics from Marantz, including a PM-KI Ruby Signature Reference Integrated Amplifier and SA-KI Signature Super Audio CD Player with DAC. Kimber Kable will be providing cables and power cords and Torus Power will be providing a TOT AVR power conditioner. The equipment will be housed in racks provided by Salamander Designs.
