This is the Q Acoustics Sub 100.
It is a 10″ Sealed Box sub. It is the middle child of a trio of new subwoofers from Q Acoustics. Above it in the line is the S12″ Sub 120, and below it is the 8″ Sub 80.
Alongside this are the amazing 5010 bookshelf speakers, which are a small 2-way design. This is a proper Bookshelf speaker. Proper in that this is sized to sit on a bookshelf. Unlike the bigger stand mounts that I usually place on bookshelves.
And with that came the 5090 CI Centre channel speaker.
This is a compact, ported box with the typical MTM driver configuration.
It’s no secret that I love Q Acoustics speakers. They make amazing products. And I love myself some white speakers, so when I first get Q Acoustics in-house, I always request them in white.
The front baffle of the speakers looks cool, it’s a shiny black acrylic with a matte texture surrounding the drivers. It really complements the drivers and speaker housing, tying the whole design together. It’s an elegant speaker. Sturdy, inert, and substantial. It feels like quality when you pick any of these speakers. The speaker grilles come in black, but the subwoofer grille is strangely only available in grey.
The speakers feature the new C3 Cubed Continuous Curved Cone design for the mid/bass drivers, which is said to deliver smoother high-frequency integration with the tweeter and superior bass dynamics. The updated mid/bass driver design also delivers increased power handling to boot.
With a design taken from the Concept series but in new housing, the high-frequency driver is fully hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated from the front baffle to protect from internal cabinet pressure and resonances from the mid/bass driver.
The Sub100 has a similar aesthetic. It’s a rounded-edged box. It’s not overly large. It’s simple and understated. Q Acoustics supplies spiked feet to decouple the sub from your floor and also rubber sleeves to cover up the spikes and protect your floors.
