SVS has just announced the release of its new 1000 Pro series subwoofers on February 26, 2021, which include the SB-1000 Pro (sealed cabinet) and PB-1000 Pro (ported cabinet) models.

These subwoofers are the upgraded versions to the previous 1000 series models, which include improvements to the driver, amplifier, cabinet, and the digital signal processing (DSP) module. The 1000 Pro series also improves the user experience through the inclusion of the subwoofer control/DSP smartphone app. The good news is SVS is still able to maintain the affordability of the subwoofers even with all these upgrades. Compared to the previous 1000 series, the black-ash finish SB-1000 Pro is offered at the same price ($499) while the PB-1000 Pro has an increase in price by $100 ($599).

Secrets is getting a head start with the newly released SVS 1000 Pro series as I currently have the SB-1000 Pro subwoofer in hand for review. This review sample has a piano gloss black finish, which carries $100 higher price ($599) than the black-ash finish. For a subwoofer with a 12-inch driver, the SB-1000 Pro looks diminutive, with its cabinet in the form factor of a cube measuring only 13 in x 13 in x 13 in. It is relatively light too compared to other 12-inchers. Even though small and light, this subwoofer sure packs a punch with its 325 W RMS class D amplifier (820+ W peak). Its stated frequency response of 20−270 Hz +/− 3dB is very impressive. I will of course elaborate more on the features and performance that the subwoofer can deliver in my upcoming review but, so far, my limited time living with this subwoofer has been quite an eye-opening experience. Do not let its small size and light weight fool you, this subwoofer can deliver bass output that can put many bigger-box subwoofers to shame.
