The MoFi SourcePoint 888 has been getting a lot of attention from reviewers and audiophiles, and for good reason.

The SourcePoint 888 is a floor-standing speaker with a unique design using concentric drivers that can give a very realistic presentation. Engineering and build quality are first-rate, and it’s hard not to be impressed when listening to any type of music.

All the excitement about this new Andrew Jones design seems justified. Jones already had two hits in a row with the SourcePoint 8 and 10, two large bookshelf speakers using a similar design and technologies, notably the concentric drivers. For the SourcePoint 888, he has a total of 3 drivers, 2 bass units, and a midrange/tweeter unit.

The speaker should appeal particularly to audiophiles who have been searching for a very musical presentation, with stable imaging, ease of setup, and deep bass without a separate subwoofer. Everyone who has heard it has been surprised by how deep it goes and yet remains musical.

The specs are good, and the speaker is not hard to drive and seems to work well in mid-size and large rooms, for music listening and the main channels in a home theater system.

We haven’t reviewed any of the Andrew Jones designs for MoFi; the SourcePoint 888 is the first, but we reviewed a roughly similar Jones design back in 2020 with the Elac Uni-Fi 2.0 system.

My thoughts on the speakers were very positive, and for many people, hearing them at a HiFi show or a dealer may result in serious consideration of a purchase.
