Focal has over 45 years of experience building some of the world’s finest loudspeakers and headphones with a lineup that spans from the affordable to cost-no-object, edge-of-the-art speaker systems. They don’t stop at home audio, with products for recording studios, automobiles, boats, and outdoors. Along with their partner Naim Electronics, Focal brings to life a unique loudspeaker pair that can transform almost any room into a listening haven with the installation of a pair of their Focal Diva Utopia connected loudspeakers plus a smartphone or tablet. It is a plug-and-play system that requires no cabling other than the two included power cords.
The Focal Diva Utopia connected loudspeakers here for review takes the company’s loudspeaker prowess and elevates it to an elegant system that will make an exceptional two-channel stereo system more attainable for the audiophile who can afford the best but doesn’t want the complexities of matching components like streamers, DACS, amplifiers, cables and loudspeakers.
Focal and sister company Naim have taken out all the guesswork by putting all of those products under one roof. They didn’t skimp on quality, either. Their world-famous W membrane drivers with their ultra-rigid cones are used for the quad 6.5-inch woofers and single 6.5-inch mid-range. The tweeter is the M-Profile Beryllium tweeter for extended highs and low distortion. The Naim amplifiers provide 400 watts of class AB power to the drivers. The cabinet look is a new direction for Focal, with its thick gray felt wrapping that gives it a sophisticated look while providing audio benefits with the semi-round shape and low diffraction.
