The Rundown:
The T44 features GoldenEar’s signature acoustic innovations, including a High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR) tweeter, a custom-voiced 4.5-inch cast-basket mid/bass driver, and an integrated powered bass section. The HVFR tweeter, a variation of the Air Motion Transformer (AMT) design, is known for producing smooth highs with ultra-fast transient response, minimizing harshness and providing detailed sound. The 4.5-inch midrange driver is central to GoldenEar’s sound, offering realism, clarity, and natural tonality for music and dialogue.
The integrated bass section is a key design feature, comprising a single 5 x 9-inch Long-Throw Quadratic Bass Driver, supported by two passive radiators, and powered by a 500-watt peak/ 250-watt RMS amplifier. This hybrid design offloads the bass frequencies from the main amplifier, allowing for greater clarity and control in the midrange and highs, and making the T44 compatible with a wider range of amplifiers, including lower-powered tube amps. The speaker boasts an in-room sensitivity of 92 dB and its frequency response is typically 32 Hz – 25 kHz, with a -6 dB point on axis at 29 Hz.
Aesthetically, the T44 features a slim, curved cabinet design that reduces unwanted resonances. It is supported by a full-footprint cast aluminum base for stability and equipped with adjustable outrigger spikes and pads for easy setup on any floor type. It’s available in two striking finishes: Piano Black (MSRP $4,899.99 per pair) for a classic high-gloss look, or the Santa Barbara Red (MSRP $5,299.99 per pair) for a more distinctive statement. Dual binding posts support bi-wiring for enhanced audio performance.
We’ll be diving deeper into the T44’s sonic performance and features in our full review— but if early impressions are anything to go by, this speaker has the potential to be a prominent addition to GoldenEar’s Triton-inspired lineup.

The Follow-Up:
SECRETS has reviewed the T66 speakers, which are the bigger brothers of the T44 speakers, two years ago. The review highly praised the performance that the T66 speakers exhibited. Accordingly, I am interested in observing how the T44 speakers compare in terms of performance and capabilities. I am putting them to the pace right now and will put together my review report on these exciting speakers in the near future.
