This is not my first time reviewing a Kaleidescape player, but it is my first chance to get the full user experience from installation to playback, using the Movie Store. I received a Strato E with no preloaded content, so I created a new user account and have already spent time browsing the Store’s huge selection of movies. Some titles are not yet available on disc, and the latest Superman film can be purchased even though it’s still playing in theaters. I also plan to check out music from the Store’s selection of concerts. I’ve already noticed the Berlin Philharmonic in there, so I think some Borodin and Mussorgsky are in my future. I’ve also noted that this is the first AV product I’ve ever received without a remote. Full control is available from the Kaleidescape app, which incorporates the player and the Movie Store into a single intuitive interface. This thing is super fun, and I’m just getting started!
Be on the lookout for my full review to drop on the SECRETS website in the coming weeks.
