The Rundown:

The Fyne Audio F502S speaker utilizes a 2½-way design topology, featuring an 8″ IsoFlare™ point-source bass/mid driver with a 1″ magnesium dome tweeter paired with an additional 8″ bass driver. It has a downward-firing port with the patented integrated BassTrax Tractrix Diffuser, which is used to achieve evenly dispersed, room-filling bass. The speaker has a sensitivity of 91 dB (2.83 Volt @ 1m), making it easy to drive to reach high volume levels suitable for large listening spaces. The speaker is also equipped with a “Presence” control that lets users adjust the mid-band (2.5-5 kHz) by ±3 dB to tailor the sound to one’s preference and room acoustics.

Standing at about 44″ tall, the F502S is about medium in size for a floor-stander. The craftsmanship of the speakers is excellent, constructed from high-rigidity MDF with extensive internal bracing to minimize cabinet resonances. The speakers sport a simple but aesthetically appealing appearance with great finish quality. Three types of finish options are available: black oak, walnut, and glossy black. The review units come in a walnut finish, which exudes a classic vibe.

The Follow-Up:

This is my first time getting up close and personal with speakers from Fyne Audio. Naturally, I am intrigued by the sonic performance these speakers can deliver, as well as the value proposition they may offer. Early impressions suggest that the Fyne F502 speakers are “fine” performers. However, I will reserve further judgment until I have done more critical listening.
