Epson is a long-time manufacturer and developer of two-piece projection systems based on its 3LCD technology. This approach produces high contrast, high white brightness and high color brightness. Many of its models are lit by lasers rather than hot and short-lived bulbs. The QL7000 is rated for 20,000 hours of use which equates to more than 10 years using the projector five hours a day, seven days a week. This high-end model has interchangeable lenses and 10,000 lumens of white and color output.
The Epson QL7000 4K High Lumen 3LCD Projector is a medium to large venue display capable of 10,000 lumens white and 10,000 lumens color brightness. It features an interchangeable lens design with many options ranging from ultra-short throw to long throw and every application in between. My review sample arrived with the ELPM15 1.6:1 zoom lens that retails for $1,880. The QL7000 supports HDR10 and HLG along with remote access for installers and integration into control systems like Crestron and Control4. It also includes a 120 Hz refresh rate with Auto Low Latency mode for smooth gaming with a 32-bit processor for frame interpolation. With the latest iteration of Epson’s pixel shift technology and premium optics, it delivers an incredibly sharp and bright image.

I’ve been reviewing Epson projectors for nearly 15 years and with each new model, they get better. Their 3LCD technology has turned into a serious contender in the high-end home theater market with excellent contrast, sharp imagery, high light output, and vivid color. The QL7000 is the brightest projector I’ve reviewed to date and though it is overkill for my relatively small space, I’m anxious to try it with the lights on as it has more brightness than most televisions. The interchangeable lens feature is super cool too and as I’ve begun exploring the menus, I’ve found an incredibly precise and comprehensive lens calibration feature that’s fully motorized with autofocus and even automatic zoom. The fun is just beginning, so be on the lookout for my full review to drop on the SECRETS website in the coming weeks.
