SECRETS has a number of DACs under review now, and the the AURALiC VEGA DAC is a real standout. The AURALiC VEGA is a fantastic product that has surprised me to no end. Looking at objectively on the test benchs, I found that it offers performance which is unmatched by any DAC I have ever experienced. Listening to it subjectively, I felt that it reveals more of the music than anything I have on hand. It is a true reference product from a company that I hope will continue this level of performance.

Introduction to the AURALiC VEGA DAC Review

A year ago if you asked me who AURALiC was, I could not have given you an answer. Since then, they have been all over the Hi-Fi press, with their AURALiC VEGA DAC being at just about every hi-fi show on the planet. Though I saw it at conventions, I didn’t read any of the reviews, as I was too involved in other things at the time. When JJ asked me to review it, and the AURALiC VEGA arrived at my door, I had no idea what to expect from it. I let it sit there unopened for two weeks, as I was too busy with other things.

Since I unboxed it and connected it to my system, it has remained in constant use. The AURALiC VEGA is a fantastic product that has surprised me to no end. Its subjective performance (listening), as well as the bench tests, show quality unmatched by any other DAC I have ever experienced.

A DAC is a hard component to buy and show off to your friends. It’s a box that sits there and operates in the background. It’s not a big TV you can hang up on the wall, or a subwoofer that you can rattle their teeth with. But while the VEGA might not be flashy (although it is attractive), it produces a musical experience that will resonate long past the 20 Hz sound waves of a gigantic subwoofer.
