Daily Blog – John E. Johnson, Jr. – March 11, 2008: DLP PROJECTION COMING TO CELL PHONES.

The news reported that DLP projection capability is being developed for cell phones, so instead of looking at the 3″ LCD panel on the phone, you will be able to project the content on a wall.

Well, I guess it is not enough that about half the people we see going down the sidewalk are talking to someone on their phones, many of them using Bluetooth wireless connections from the phone in their pocket to an earpiece. It looks amusing actually, especially when they are walking with the earpiece in the ear on the other side of their head from which you see them chattering away, apparently at no one in particular. I want to say, “Hey buddy, you forgot to take your medication this morning.”

So, now, people in Starbucks will be able to have their coffee and project movies on the wall next to the table.

At least with people on their cell phones, they are communicating more than they used to. E-mail was 99% of our communication before those phones became so portable.

It will be back to disconnecting from the world when we can entertain ourselves with widescreen movies anywhere and anytime, and probably the phones will add simulated surround sound using a pair of ear buds.

Do you realize we are almost done with the first decade of the 21st century?
