The Tower is at the bottom end of SVS’s floor-standing speakers and looks identical to the SVS Ultra Evolution floor standers except in size. If space is an issue or you don’t have the coin for the larger speakers, the Tower may be of particular interest to you.
The Basics:
SECRETS has reviewed some of the Ultra Evolution speakers already, so I will not linger too much on their design philosophy. SVS achieves time alignment by physically concaving the front baffle. The idea here is to have the different sound wavelengths coming from the front of the speaker arrive at your listening position at the same instance. Thus, audible time smearing of the sound can be eliminated.
The Rundown:
The goal of the Ultra Evolution Towers is to pack plenty of the great sound found in the flagship Pinnacle model into a more compact form. These should easily appeal to those with smaller rooms but still have enough space for more modest towers. The build quality is expectedly excellent and SVS has a good reputation for customer service. These speakers should provide the consumer with years of enjoyment for both music and movie buffs alike.

The Follow-up:
They offer similar sound reproduction as the Pinnacles, but with a smaller footprint and some monetary savings as well. The time-aligned cabinet and diamond-coated tweeter with four 5.25-inch woofers produce a bold sound that is both punchy and sweet at the same time. I do have a couple of caveats about the Towers that I’ll share with you all in my final full review in the coming weeks. My final analysis will include extensive listening sessions while pairing the SVS Ultra Evolution Towers to my Onkyo TX-RZ70 AVR with Dirac room correction and my Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 600.2 with no correction or tone controls applied. Stay tuned, dear reader!
