Technics for Automobili Lamborghini – SL-1200M7B – A Video Review

Called the SL-1200M7B, this deck is said to combine the highest possible sound quality with a wide array of DJ functions, which is perfect for me.

From the Lambo side of things, it’s available in either Arancio Apodis, Verde Shock, or Giallo Athon—that is, Orange, Green, or Yellow. My review sample arrived in what many affectionately call “Lambo Orange.”

You get some cool decals, the design is inspired by Automobili Lamborghini’s iconic Y-shape graphic language, and the obvious branding on the deck itself.

The package includes a vinyl record with the engine sounds of flagship Automobili Lamborghini cars, a slipmat, and some stickers. The vinyl itself is a picture disc with an image of a tire from Automobili Lamborghini’s latest model, the Revuelto.

On the DJ side of things, the Pitch Control is from ±8 % / ±16 %. This is done through digital control. You also get all of the fun DJ additions, not just 33-1/3 rpm and 45 rpm, but Reverse Play, and 78 rpm. And you get the trusty S-shaped tonearm.

The stylus illuminator light is a high-brightness and long-life white LED for improved visibility of the stylus tip even in a dark environment. The torque/brake speed adjustment can be adjusted individually in four steps. This, along with the rotation speed switch, and reverse play can be adjusted by switches on the main unit, under the platter.

With the platter off, you can also change the strobe LED color from the standard red to blue.

The audiophile features are a Coreless Direct Drive motor with an updated version of Technics’ Static Balance S-Shaped Tonearm. The new Coreless Direct Drive Motor is said to be better and achieves the higher torque of the SL-1210MK5 table.
