First adoption of Marvell’s 88DE2710 video format converter by Sony

Santa Clara, California ? (June 16, 2009) ? Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, today announced that its Marvell® 88DE2710 video processor is a featured component of Sony’s high-end BDP-S5000ES Blu-ray player, thus furthering the integration of Marvell technology into leading consumer electronics devices. Sony’s latest Blu-ray player is designed to offer a consistent, high-quality 1080p image, vivid true-to-life pictures, and an immersive home theater experience.

The BDP-S5000ES is the first Sony product to use Marvell’s 88DE2710 video format converter. The Blu-ray player offers BD-Live for interactive content and supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio formats. The Sony Blu-ray disc player received HiVi’s Grand Prix 2009 Video Disc Player Award and AV Review’s Visual Grand Prix 2009 Gold Award. This award winning Blu-ray player is available now worldwide.
