Bowers & Wilkins' High-End In-Ceiling Alternative

B&W adds a high-quality in-ceiling speaker to growing Custom Installation range.

Using technology derived from the flagship 800 Series, Bowers & Wilkins new CCM816 in-ceiling speaker offers amazing sound quality in a highly discreet form. The speaker complements the CCM818 and CCM817 already in this high-quality installation range.

The CCM816 is a two-way speaker, with a woven Kevlar® driver for the bass and midrange. This technology is utilized on many of B&W’s most-respected speakers, but here a blue finish makes it less attention grabbing than our traditional yellow cones. This 6.5 inch driver means the CCM816 is more compact than the 8 inch equipped CCM818, but shares the excellent sound quality rarely found in a custom installation speaker.

The 1 inch tube-loaded aluminum tweeter is another feat of technical excellence derived from B&W’s years of audio research and development. Both drivers are set at a 28-degree angle, which allows the speaker to focus sound on the optimum listening position. However, as with the CCM818, some smart engineering allows the CCM816 to achieve this angle while at the same time sitting flush with the ceiling for a truly discreet finish.

The combination of B&W’s technological know-how, amazing sound quality and compact size provides amazing sound quality in either a stereo or Home Theater environment.

The new Bowers & Wilkins CCM816 will be available February 2009 at a manufacturer’s suggested price of $600 each.
