Oh, and its MSRP is only $989.99. It uses AKM’s best DAC chips, too.
A high-quality Digital-to-Analog Converter (D/A Converter, DAC) is a very important component in the signal path. It does not have to be expensive to be good. The FiiO K17 Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier is a good example.
The K17 DAC has more features than any DAC I have ever tested. It has just about every type of input, including Coax, Toslink, USB-C, and USB-A. An app lets you play local files stored on your music SSD or USB thumb drive, and you can stream wirelessly – no Ethernet port required, but there is one if you want the fastest speed.
It has six low-pass filters!

We have reviewed a few similar products from FiiO in the past, such as the FiiO R7 Desktop Digital Streaming Player. The K17 looks to be an interesting and significant step-up from that unit, and my full review with bench tests will be coming to the Secrets website very soon.
