Furious 7 – Blu-Ray Movie Review

I wanted to give this move five stars but I just couldn’t. I don’t give out five stars frivolously plus I need to retain my integrity and professionalism, so Furious 7 will only get four and a half stars from me. That half star deduction comes because of the implausibility that Vin Diesel can survive every death-defying crash. It doesn’t matter if he drives off a cliff, jumps a car out of a plane or drives off a parking garage, he never dies (and it becomes too predictable). The same goes for the other big studs, Johnson and Stratham.

This doesn’t mean that I didn’t sit there with a smile on my face during the whole movie. Because I did. I loved every minute of it. The story was excellent, the acting was magnificent, the stars shone and the technical production values were state of the art. This is one not to miss and the public showed their support at the box office for obvious reasons. This is a highly recommended movie.

I think this is my new reference disc. I will use it to show off my system until a better movie comes along. The picture is nothing short of state of the art in every way. It is colorful, sharp, detailed with excellent black levels and no visible noise that I could detect. Each scene has the right color balance and the whole production invites you to sit back and enjoy the outrageous action. I loved every bit of it.

The audio was equally impressive. The action scenes were full of clear, dynamic and enveloping special effects. The music was righteous sounding in every possible way and then you throw in the growl of an internal cumbustion engine or the firey depth of a jet engine here and there and what you have is a modern symphony of excellent audio greatness to be thoroughly enjoyed.

This is a two-disc set with the Blu-ray, a DVD and a Digital HD Ultraviolet code. The main disc includes both the Theatrical Release and the Extended Edition which adds just 2 minutes running time.

All the on-disc extras are in HD and it is chock full of material: "Talking Fast" – featuring Director James Wan and some of the cast offering behind the scenes details on the finer points of the film; "Back to the Starting Line" – a brief retrospective of the franchise and a look at the current cast and crew; a trio of spots highlighting some of the more intense special effects – "Flying Cars", "Snatch and Grab" and "Tower Jump" and five additional short featurettes as well as four deleted scenes.
