For my second stop during my HIFI stint in the UK, I decided to drop in on the fine folks at “The Professional Monitor Company,” which we all know as PMC.

Unlike my first stop at MJ Acoustics, which is truly an overachieving “Mom-and-Pop” operation with a grand total of 6 employees crafting killer subwoofers with panache, PMC has a slightly bigger footprint.

With a staff of roughly 55 employees spread over 3 locations, PMC is a decidedly larger enterprise with a more diverse portfolio of products that reach deep into the consumer, professional audio, and custom installation markets.

That being said, I soon discovered that despite its broader industry CV, PMC did not feel like the more corporate HIFI entity that I was envisioning. Surprisingly, it felt very much like MJ Acoustics did, a tight-knit family operation, albeit with a few dozen more “crazy uncles and aunts” thrown into the mix. You get the sense that PMC is staffed by a very down-to-earth but supremely focused team of people who create and execute world-class products with a minimum amount of fanfare and a maximum amount of respect.

I was lucky enough to have PMC Co-CEO, Tom Loader, give me an in-depth tour of PMC’s main office and R&D area at Holm Court in Bedfordshire and their manufacturing area in Luton. Before you ask, I was restricted with what I could film in the R&D area for obvious reasons, but it’s a safe bet to say that PMC has a lot of cool things in the works.

I hope you enjoy this little video of my visit.
