Thirty years ago, in 1994, I started a website called Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity.
I wrote all the HTML code. One of our writers designed the logo.
It cost me very little money to do it all.
Thirty years later, our website is managed by professional programmers. It costs tens of thousands of dollars to program, store, and deliver content to readers.
I want to express my appreciation for all the support that everyone – our writers, our readers, our programmers, and our web servers – has given us over the years. Secrets was the first A/V magazine to start publishing as a web-only publication. It has been one of the most enjoyable projects I have ever had.
TVs were CRT in the early days. The first Flat Panel TVs were non-HD (852 x 480) Plasma TVs and cost upwards of $20,000. Now, you can buy a 98” TCL QLED Flat Panel 4K TV for $1,498.
Most music and movies are now streamed by consumers. Hard copies of music and movie theater attendance are trending downward.
In 2023, Carlo Lo Raso took over the position of Editor-in-Chief (EIC). He changed Secrets for the better, and I see even more improvement coming.
Happy Holidays to all of you from myself, my wife Susan, and our daughter Cynthia.
