As part of a limited series releases, Zildjian recently began offering this K Custom Session Crash, which was designed per Steve Gadd’s sound preferences. He personally signed a number of them at the Zildjian factory. The 18″ A. Zildjian & CIE Vintage Crash is also one of the limited edition releases.

The cymbal has deep lathing, including the bell. The hammer marks are medium sized and cover the entire cymbal, except for the bell.
The sound is medium-bright and moderately fast. Riding the cymbal produces an excellent ping, and the bell is musical but decays quickly, as does the crash itself.
There are spectral peaks at 460 Hz, 1.4 kHz, 1.7 kHz, 3.1 kHz, then a grouping from 3.9 kHz to 5.5 kHz, followed by a decline to 45 kHz. The large peak at 460 Hz gives the cymbal a distinct tonality.
The peak of the crash occurs at 0.2 seconds, followed by a very fast decay.
