Vanquish Vampire Power With New PM8-GAV From Panamax

Compact Unit Reduces Energy Consumption While Enhancing Audio and Video Quality and Protecting Sensitive Components

PETALUMA, Calif. — Jan. 20, 2010 — To provide consumers with a greener home theater environment, while cutting down on energy bills, Panamax today introduced the new PM8-GAV, a compact, cost-effective power management unit. The PM8-GAV combines current-sensing outlets with noise filtration and surge protection in one compact unit to conserve energy, enhance audio and video quality for an optimal home theater experience, and provide users with the peace of mind that their sensitive components are protected.

To conserve energy, the PM8-GAV senses when non-essential equipment is in standby mode, also called vampire power, and automatically cuts power off to them, while leaving power on to the equipment that needs to run continuously. For increased audio and video clarity, the unit offers premium noise filtration, in addition to isolation between outlet banks to eliminate inter-component noise.

In the event of power fluctuations or a catastrophic surge, the PM8-GAV features Panamax’s Protect or Disconnect circuitry, which completely disconnects AC power to connected equipment, while integrated coax/sat and telephone/LAN line protection prevents electrical surges that travel over cable, satellite, and antenna lines.

“We are proud to introduce the PM8-GAV, which provides consumers with significant savings by allowing them to reduce energy consumption, increase component audio and video performance, and protect their investment, all with one product,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Panamax/Furman. “Our greenest product to date, the PM8-GAV gives users everything they need for an environmentally friendly home theater, and lowers energy requirements by cutting down on the number of destroyed components that reach the landfill.”

The PM8-GAV will be available in Q1 2010, at an MSRP of $119.95.
