Pro-Ject Announces the Launch of T2 Super Phono

T2 Super Phono combines an audiophile turntable & premium built-in phono preamp to set a new standard of performance among plug-&-play designs

February 20, 2024 (Mistlebach, Austria) — Today Pro-Ject is proud to announce the latest addition to the ‘T’ lineup – the T2 Super Phono – which aims to deliver true high-fidelity sonics at an accessible price point. Boasting premium materials, modern aesthetics and chilling sound quality, an extensive development process has cemented the T2’s on-board phono stage as Pro-Ject’s best yet.

The T2 Super Phono sensibly enhances the brand’s critically acclaimed T1 range, which was released in 2020. The elegantly crafted CNC-machined plinth has expanded in size to enhance stability and to improve tonearm geometry. For absolute accuracy while tracking, the T2’s one-piece aluminum tonearm now extends a full nine inches, also adding improved low-friction bearings to accommodate the increase in length & mass.

Precision-machined to the tightest tolerance, the platter bearing assembly is comprised of a stainless steel spindle that rotates in an equally-precise bronze bushing. This allows the new, heavier tempered glass platter to spin unimpeded atop the anti-resonant sub-platter to which the bearing spindle is fixed. Available in three finishes – gloss black, satin white or Walnut laminate – the plinth is manufactured with zero plastic and with zero resonant hollow spaces, resolving any detriments associated with plastic and/or cheap steel alternatives.

Turntables in this class typically use unregulated DC motors with unacceptably wide speed fluctuations. The T2, on the other hand, implements Pro-Ject’s precision-speed AC motor powered by “Speed Box” technology. AC power is taken from the wall outlet, converted to DC by the power supply, then fed to the DC > AC generator that in turn supplies the motor with this newly clean & stable AC power. This shakes out to better sound quality via spot-on speed stability, not to mention simple 33/45rpm speed selection with the rocker switch at the side.

Handmade in Europe like all things Pro-Ject, the T2 Super Phono’s simple setup, unparalleled sound quality and beyond-reasonable price not only make this a great entry point for aspiring audiophiles, it’s also a seamless addition to hi-fi enthusiasts’ existing systems – especially given its compatibility with the line-level inputs on powered speakers & integrated amps, among many more types of components & devices.

Additional Features Include:

Sumiko Rainier MM Phono Cartridge, same as on the Debut Carbon EVO and Debut PRO
Semi-Balanced Phono Cable, shielded, semi-symmetrical, low-capacitance phono cables purpose-designed by Pro-Ject for use with turntables

MSRP: $599.00 USD
