Furman Elite-15i Power Management Systems Selected by 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' for Ohio Renovation

PETALUMA, Calif. — Nov. 9, 2009 — Furman today announced that its power management systems were among the amenities included in a home renovation that was featured in an episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” aired on Nov. 8.

In each episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” a house belonging to a deserving family is completely renovated from the ground up, complete with five-star luxuries and the latest A/V equipment. Each show is a race against time on a project that would normally span several months, involving a team of designers, contractors, and hundreds of workers who all have just seven days to totally rebuild an entire house.

For the makeover of the Terpenning family home in Beavercreek, Ohio, key features included a state-of-the-art home theater and family room designed and installed by Hanson Audio Video of Dayton, Ohio. For the project, Hanson utilized an Integra receiver and Blu-ray player and a JVC projector in the home theater, while the family room offers a Cambridge DVD player and audio equipment. Both rooms feature Samsung displays and Philips Pronto and RTI control solutions. To protect the family’s sensitive new components from voltage irregularities, and to optimize their performance for the ultimate viewing experience, Hanson included a Furman Elite-15i power management system in each room.

“Designing and installing the A/V system for the Terpenning family was a rewarding experience and a memorable one, as it had to be done in seven days,” said Troy Hanson, owner of Hanson Audio Video. “But doing something quickly doesn’t mean you skimp on quality, and we wanted to be certain that the family’s system performed flawlessly. That’s why we love using Furman products. Furman is an internationally recognized and reputable company that produces a consistent product. With the Elite-15i power management systems in place, the Terpenning family is getting the most from their new A/V system.”

The Elite-15i features Furman’s Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) for unequaled audio and video clarity, Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) for the highest level of surge protection available, and automatic Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) to protect connected equipment from dangerous overvoltage conditions. Twelve-volt triggering facilitates use with receivers and their universal control remotes, while retractable front-panel LED lamps allow easy viewing of either a rack or cabinet full of equipment.

“It is an honor to have our Elite-15i featured in this renovation,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Panamax and Furman. “We’d like to congratulate the Terpenning family on their new home and their new A/V system, which I have no doubt is the envy of the neighborhood. We are happy to help keep it performing at its best.”
