Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Plus & AMBEO Sub Video Review

If I’m being honest, I was skeptical. I have used soundbars in the past and I haven’t been overly impressed.

But that was the past and I always try to place my skepticism aside and try to keep in mind that tech progresses and products get better.

Introduction

The AMBEO Plus is one of 3 soundbar offerings from Sennheiser. There’s the Mini, the Plus and the Max.

Naturally, my head gravitated toward the Max. (Because bigger is always better in my humble opinion) but, the Plus was offered, and I can never turn down a fun product review. And Sennheiser was tossing in the AMBEO sub as well.

The PLUS, the middle sibling of the three retails for 1499.00 USD.

The AMBEO Sub Retails for $699.95 USD.

Design

Cosmetically it’s an upscale and classy-looking Soundbar.

It’s an all-grey affair, with a grey plastic base and a mesh fabric top.

The sub is finished in a matching dark grey exterior with a simple Sennheiser logo on the bottom of the front.

The top of the bar features some controls (source, Bluetooth, volume, multi-mic mute) and indicator lights that signify a whole slew of functionality. And rather than bore you with those here I’ll put a link to this sub if you want to read up on those as well, there’s a lot. And if I’m being honest I didn’t spend too much time diving into them because I didn’t find that I needed to rely on them. I was able to navigate everything via the app and remote and I could audibly hear the changes take effect.

The remote is amazing. Metal, chunky, and nice to hold in the hand. All of the necessary functions are available. I’m actually surprised they included a remote as the app is so intuitive and easy to use. But I appreciate having it on hand. especially at night when I’m trying to not look at my phone.

The packaging was beautiful. The supplied quick start guide is well laid out and informative. The app is spectacular. Well-designed and easy to navigate.

In all, it’s a design win. I’m impressed.
