Benjamin Zander's Philharmonia Orchestra performance of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5 was highly praised upon its initial release last year. Now Telarc releases the performance (Telarc 2SACD-60569), complete with the bonus second disc offering 78 minutes of discussion, in Super Audio CD Discreet multi-channel surround sound.
The great Terry Riley, father of minimalism, has enjoyed a 25-year association with the famed Kronos Quartet. Together they release his REQUIEM FOR ADAM (Nonesuch 79639-2), one of three requiems Riley has written as a result of deaths in the Kronos family.
