Third Annual Women in Consumer Electronics CEDIA EXPO Breakfast a Huge Success

Sold-Out Event Featured Inspiring Keynote Address by Debra Boelkes, CEO of Business Women Rising, and Presentation by Tricia Nystrom From Magnolia and Wolf@Best Buy

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Sept. 19, 2011 — Women in Consumer Electronics (CE), an industry organization that promotes the advancement of women in the consumer electronics industry, today announced that this year’s annual CEDIA EXPO breakfast reception was another sold-out event — the third in its three-year history. Highlights of this year’s breakfast at CEDIA EXPO in Indianapolis included an inspirational keynote address by Debra Boelkes — CEO of Business World Rising and Business Women Rising — in addition to a presentation by Tricia Nystrom, senior merchant of Gold Sponsor Magnolia and Wolf@Best Buy. In addition, Jayme Schwartz and Kim Fabiano Fassetta of social4media were recognized with the Volunteer of the Year Award.

In her presentation “A Roadmap for Leadership,” Boelkes shared insights from her 25-year career in the electronics industry with a full house of attendees, both men and women. She addressed the state of today’s high-tech business environment and how women can affect change in it, in addition to examining leadership strategies and techniques for successful career building.

Also addressing the group was Tricia Nystrom, who spoke about Wolf@Best Buy, a network of thousands of employees who work with individuals, brands, stores, and communities to help Best Buy build strong women leaders and capture a greater share of the female consumer electronics market. Additional speakers included Joaquin Rivera from Gold Sponsor Stewart Filmscreen, and Deena Ghazarian of Platinum Sponsor Monster Cable, who had the honor of introducing Boelkes.

“I’d like to thank our sponsors for helping make this important event possible. For professional women in the CE industry, our breakfast reception is a fun and valuable opportunity to learn from the insight of women such as Debra and Tricia who have led amazing CE careers,” said Carol Campbell, founder of Women in CE. “The event is also a time to recognize the contributions of our members, and this year I had the honor of presenting the Volunteer of the Year Award to Jayme and Kim for their extraordinary efforts.”
