Procella Audio P15 Dual 15-Inch Active DSP Subwoofer Receives Upgrade With New Subwoofer Driver Design

– Upgraded subwoofer has increased dynamic output and extended low-frequency response below 20 Hz

– Custom-made pro-audio long-throw drivers have 3 inch voice coils and use Neodymium magnets, improving dynamic output and extending low-frequency response

– Subwoofer produces 127dB of output at 50 Hz

– Onboard 350+350 Watt amplifier with DSP control is optimized for new driver configuration

– With no increase in price, upgraded P15 is available now from Procella dealers and distributors worldwide

Stockholm, Sweden – July 18, 2011 – Procella Audio, manufacturer of high-performance high-output speaker systems for home and professional cinema and music applications, announced today that the P15 active subwoofer has been upgraded with new 15 inch speaker drivers, further elevating the dual-driver subwoofer’s acclaimed performance. The new custom-made Italian pro-audio subwoofer driver enables the P15 to achieve improved low-frequency extension, higher continuous and peak output levels, and a greater level of articulation. The new version of the P15 is shipping now worldwide, and its price remains unchanged at a suggested U.S. retail price of USD $5,999.00 each.

Manufactured for Procella by a leading Italian pro audio manufacturer, the new long-throw 15 inch woofer has a 3 inch voice coil and uses high-efficiency Neodymium magnets, producing a very high level of output, with increased peak capability, in comparison to the original P15. The P15’s deep bass response extends well below 20 Hz and the speaker’s maximum output is a remarkable 127 dB at 50 Hz.

Designed for medium-to-large sized rooms up to about 3,000 cubic feet, the P15 active subwoofer produces massive cinema impact from a remarkably compact heavily-braced, sealed-box cabinet design enclosure. Wide and shallow in design to allow for placement against walls or built into walls, its slim profile is only 8.7 inches / 220mm deep. Each of its dual 15 inch subwoofer drivers is driven by its own 350 watt onboard amplifier, enabling the subwoofer to produce 127 dB of output at 50 Hz, with useful low frequency extension to well below 20 Hz. Integral 28bit/56 bit ADI Sigma DSP control tunes the subwoofer and optimizes in-room response by compensating for room location boundary conditions. Four pre-sets are provided, improving low frequency performance for free-standing placement, corner placement, location against a wall and mounting in a baffle wall.

“Through our ongoing research and design effort, we developed a new 15 inch driver design that we can better interface with the P15’s power amplifiers. Our goal was to achieve, within the P15’s output capabilities, performance comparable to the our flagship P18 dual 18 inch subwoofer, and we are very pleased with the result,” explained Anders Uggelberg, founding partner and lead designer for Procella Audio. “The new drivers have a lower resonant frequency and a smoother impedance curve, and in many are ways very similar to the P18’s 18 inch drivers. The new configuration allows for even greater output, both on a steady-state basis and for dynamic peaks, and we’ve found that the benefits are particularly significant for customers with 110V and 100V line voltages. The new driver brings the performance of the P15 even closer to that of the P18, with the main difference now being ultimate playback level and dynamic range.”

Uggelberg, who is a THX trained and certified cinema designer with over 300 cinema and professional studio designs to his credit, has designed each Procella Audio speaker model to provide pro audio accuracy and dynamic range for the finest home theaters. High output at low frequencies is assured by active dual drive, dual amp subwoofers that utilize very high quality pro audio woofer drivers in combination with onboard high-power amplifiers and DSP control.
