McIntosh Introduces Ultimate Luxury Class MDLP2 DLP HD Video Projector at CEDIA 2008

Denver, CO, September 4, 2008– McIntosh Laboratory, a world leader in home entertainment systems for nearly 60 years, will demonstrate the pinnacle of luxury video display performance at CEDIA 2008 with its highly anticipated MDLP2 High-Definition DLP® Front Projector (US and Canada SRP: $18,000). The 1080p HD projector features the landmark Texas Instruments DC4 hand-selected chip set, which provides a significantly brighter, higher contrast image than current DLP chips. Viewers enjoy full-uncompressed HDTV 1920×1080 pixel resolution for strikingly realistic, richly detailed video reproduction, bringing home entertainment yet another step closer to a true film-like cinema viewing experience. The MDLP2 will replace the MDLP1, and is available with both medium or long throw lenses (MDLP2M and MDLP2L).

The MDLP2 is packed with today’s most advanced video imaging and connectivity features, including HDMI 1.3 inputs with Deep Color capability. The projector offers users a choice of both standard and long-throw lens options, and thanks to the advanced True View system from McIntoshâ, it can be enhanced for use with McIntosh’s optional anamorphic lens, the LK1.

Ideal for High-End Custom Installation
Designed for total flexibility in virtually any type of custom installation, the McIntosh MDMLP2 is literally the crown jewel of any high-end system. In addition to its HDMI 1.3 input, the MDLP2 provides HD component video, S-video, composite video and analog RGB connections. A vertical lens shift function allows the projector to reside at locations well above the top of the screen, which makes for extremely easy integration into even the most difficult installation environments. For integrated operation in a custom installation, the projector includes remote in/out connections, RS-232C serial control ports and two DC trigger connections that can trigger two independent operations. This allows the projector to reconfigure a dual-aspect ratio projection screen whenever the aspect ratio of the program source changes from 16:9 to 4:3 or from 16:9 to 2:35. In order to enhance its functionality in many different home entertainment setups, the MDLP2 provides users with two lens options, a mechanical lens shift that allows mounting above the screen, full RS-232 control and more.

The MDLP2 also features a comprehensive onscreen menu system that enables easy setup, yet provides extensive calibration facilities including a wide range of color temperature and gamma adjustments.

Superior Contrast Images, Breakthrough Color Reproduction
The MDLP2 features the die-cast aluminum chassis of McIntosh’s acclaimed MDLP1, coupled with the latest in hand-selected custom fully sealed 13-element all-glass optics from Konica-Minolta. In addition, the customized color filters are optimized to match the spectral characteristics of the industry’s only 200 Watt DC SuperHighPressure lamp assembly. This assures that not only will the picture be razor sharp and evenly illuminated, but the colors will be accurate, pure and fully saturated for breathtaking realism. In addition to having new color filters, the color wheel itself spins at an astounding 10,800 RPM which correlates to a color frame rate of 6x, drastically reducing the possibility of image-degrading color breakup (rainbow effect or RBE). To ensure quiet operation of the fast-spinning color wheel, the MDLP2 features a specially designed Quiet Fluid Dynamic Bearing motor, borrowed from Hard Disc Drive (HDD) technology, for virtually silent and reliable operation.
