Genesis Advanced Technologies 6.1c Center Channel Speaker

December 9, 2003

Genesis Advanced Technologies, manufacturer of legendary high-end two-channel audiophile loudspeaker systems, announced the release of the Genesis 6.1c Center Channel audiophile loudspeaker. Designed as the focus of the Genesis 6.1 absolute surround™ multi-channel audio system, the G6.1c is also designed for use in L/C/R configurations for three-channel playback, and as a stereo pair. Compatible with all Genesis two-channel systems, the G6.1c has the same voice and superior dipole performance that is absolute fidelity™.

Paired with the ServoSub™ 4/8 subwoofer, the G6.1c offers full-frequency reproduction from 20Hz to 36kHz. “This is like the Swiss Army Knife of speakers,” stated Dave Firestone, VP, Sales & Marketing. “The G6.1c is a full-dipole speaker system whose size and form factor allows it to be used in a number of applications – center, surround, or left and right.”

As a center speaker, the G6.1c can be placed above or below a video screen, or behind a projection screen. Placed against the wall, the rear-firing dipole tweeter can be switched off. Reconfiguring the G6.1c is simple. “We designed the G6.1c with a rotatable Corian® baffle to which the midrange driver and ribbon tweeter are mounted,” explained Gary Leonard Koh, Managing Director and Industrial Designer. “In 45 degree increments, one can position the mid/tweeter package for optimal imaging in any application you choose. Hence, the speaker can be positioned either vertically or horizontally for the application that you choose.”

The G6.1c uses the same driver complement as the G6.1 two-channel audiophile speaker system. “It was critical to have the same voice for a center channel speaker that we created for our left/right pair,” said Arnie Nudell, Genesis Chief Scientist. “The G6.1c utilizes our exclusive 1” ribbon tweeter, titanium midrange and aluminum mid-bass couplers; the same driver complement that gives our G6.1 speakers such astounding performance, staging and imaging.” Drivers are managed by a classic Arnie Nudell crossover design featuring custom-made Relcaps and Genesis-designed iron-core and air-core inductors.

Careful attention was paid to the industrial design of the G6.1c. “Subtle visual cues were manipulated in the design of the cabinet to slim its appearance and enhance its beauty”, said Koh. “Our goal was to design a speaker that would enhance any décor. Further, we selected various wood veneers from mission-style olive burl to classic rosewood, as well as ultra-modern automotive and custom paint finishes. The result is an audiophile work of art.”

“The G6.1c is such a capable speaker that we believe it will find a home in many systems; as an unparalleled center channel speaker, as monopole surrounds, and as an entry-level Genesis stereo pair”, stated Firestone.

The G6.1c Center channel speaker retails for $2,800 – $3,400, depending on finish, and is available through authorized Genesis dealers and distributors worldwide. Complete specifications for the G6.1c can be found at www.genesisloudspeakers.com
