I’ve just received VIZIO’s new flagship Ultra HD TV, the PX65-G1, for review. It’s an upgrade over last year’s model with a brighter 384-zone full-array backlight and a color gamut that exceeds DCI-P3.

Coupled with VIZIO SmartCast 3.0 and an eight-core processor, the PX65-G1 is poised to deliver premium video content from your favorite discs along with access to thousands of streaming channels.

Physically, the PX65-G1 is almost identical to its predecessor, the PQ65-F1. But inside lurks a far-superior backlight with 384 dimming zones, higher output, and an upgraded quantum dot film that renders more than 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. My initial impressions are full of positive adjectives. I’ve already watched a few clips from the newest Ultra HD version of the Spears & Munsil benchmark and to say I’m blown away would be to engage in understatement. I can’t wait to dive into the full calibration menu with color management and an 11-point white balance control. And hours of content surfing await with VIZIO SmartCast 3.0. My full review will appear here very soon!
