The Beethoven Baby Grand Reference model is the middle of the three floor-standers in the Concert Grand series from the Austrian speaker manufacturer, Vienna Acoustics.

The three floor-standers in the series are the Beethoven Concert Grand Reference ($13,495 per pair in standard finishes; $15,495 per pair in rosewood finish), the Beethoven Baby Grand Reference ($10,495 per pair in standard finishes; $11,495 per pair in rosewood finish), and the Mozart Grand Symphony Edition ($5,495 per pair in standard finishes; $6,295 per pair in rosewood finish). The Beethoven Concert Grand Reference and the Beethoven Baby Grand Reference have the “Reference” designation to separate them from previous iterations of the models. As pictured, the review sample of the Beethoven Baby Grand Reference model comes in a cherry finish. I have to say that the speakers look elegant in their simplicity. For a relatively slim floor-stander, it feels rather hefty at about 57 lbs each. The quality of construction and finish of the speakers is nothing short of exquisite.

The Beethoven Baby Grand Reference speakers employ a three-way bass-reflex design using a 1.1” silk dome tweeter, a 6” composite cone midrange, and two 6” composite cone woofers. These midrange and woofer drivers utilize Vienna Acoustics’ patented flat spidercone new construction, which offers precise, piston-like movement of the driver’s diaphragm. The grilles of the speakers attach magnetically.

I will touch more on the features and how these speakers sound in my upcoming review. For now, as a sneak peek I will just mention that these midsize floor-standers surprised me with their capability of delivering bigger sound than their size indicates.
