So, my journey of reviewing speakers from Europe continues with the arrival of the Sonus faber Sonetto V Tower Speakers.

Sonus faber Sonetto V Tower Speakers

These exquisitely handcrafted speakers are made in Italy and beautifully meld rich walnut, polished aluminum, and hand-stitched leather to create a lute shaped three-way speaker that incorporates trickle-down technology from their more expensive speaker lines. The Sonetto V (Italian for sonnet) is the middle tower speaker in the Sonetto line and comes in white, piano black, or walnut finishes. All the drivers are designed and made in Italy by Sonus faber. The tweeter is a DAD (damped apex dome) 29mm silk dome type, while the midrange is a 150mm cone driver with an ultra-free compression basket and a custom diaphragm made of cellulose pulp and other natural fibers. The two 180mm woofers have the same ultra-free compression basket with aluminum cones that are exclusive to the Sonetto line.

Sonus faber Sonetto V Tower Speakers Crossover

The crossover is an anti-resonant design that the company calls “Paracross Topology” that is said to optimize amplitude/phase and space/time performance. It also performs an impedance compensation at low frequencies that makes the Sonetto V especially amplifier friendly. I am anxious to compare them directly with my stalwart Revel Concert2 F36s.
