Samsung Q90T Ultra HDTV

I’ve just received one for review and am anxious to put it through my full suite of tests.

The Q90T is a VA panel which is the best LCD technology for high contrast, backed by a quantum dot LED with 120 dimming zones. Quantum dots expand the color gamut and this TV promises coverage of the P3 color space which makes it a great display for the latest UHD and HDR content. No longer is content playing catchup to display technology. There are lots of Ultra HD shows and movies available on UHD Blu-ray and from major streaming providers like Netflix and Amazon that deliver fantastic quality images right to your living room.

The Q90T is also aimed at gamers with support for FreeSync adaptive sync and a 120Hz refresh rate. An HDMI 2.1 port is included along with three additional HDMI 2.0 inputs. If you’re planning to buy a new PS5 or Xbox, you’ll need a TV with HDMI 2.1 to enjoy those features. Or hook up a PC as I’m planning to do. FreeSync has been around for a few years now and I’ve long been spoiled by high-speed computer monitors. That TVs are finally supporting rates above 60Hz is a major breakthrough.

I’ve just set up the Q90T on its included stand and initial impressions are good. The picture is bright and saturated, and the sound is very impressive. I’ll be running my full suite of tests, including response and input lag, and spending some time watching disc-based and streamed content. Stay tuned for my full review coming soon!
