When recently offered an opportunity to review Polk’s Legend L800 flagship loudspeakers with a 2020 version of Polk’s famous SDA technology from the 80s, now called SDA Pro, there was only one answer to give, YES.

Polk Legend L800 Loudspeakers

The L800s are big. They stand over four feet tall, and about one-and-a-half feet deep and wide. They make no apologies for their size, and they work with the laws of physics, instead of trying to bend them.

They promise a lot in one package: subwoofer level bass, articulate mids and highs, and the re-introduction of what Polk calls “real stereo” through the use of SDA Pro technology. We will delve into this technology more in the main review. For now, suffice it to say the goal of SDA Pro is to transform your listening experience into one that brings you to a live performance.

In the time the L800s have been in my system, I’ve learned volumes about what these big guys can do. There are some performance items that even Polk has not discussed about these speakers, and I look forward to sharing this information when the full review is complete.
