When it comes to everyday listening, my preferred solution is IEMs (In-Ear-Monitors), being that they are the most convenient and readily available.

When my father came home from RMAF with a pair of Periodic Audio’s Beryllium (Be) earbuds and a directive to review them, I simply switched out my other earbuds and continued as normal. The product is made with the metal of its namesake, armed with pure beryllium foil drivers, as well as polycarbonate bodies, which allow the unit to be tough without unwanted resonance. It comes with the standard outfitting of various silicone tips, a ¼” jack adapter, and an airplane adapter.

The design of the Berylliums is minimalist, not dwelling on needless detail and simply settling for an embossed logo on the back and a red grille inside the barrel of the right bud to differentiate it. Otherwise, the “Bes” are deceptively simple. While the design is humble, the price tag runs slightly higher than the price range that I see when I think “daily driver earbuds.” Is this commitment worthwhile, or is the consumer better suited to non-beryllium drivers? I will assess this in my upcoming review.
