Melomania upgrade time!

Melomania Touch True Wireless Headphones

Having reviewed the Melomania 1 and 1+, I think it’s time to give the top-of-the-range Melomania Touch True Wireless headphones a try.

The Melomania Touch was released before the Melomania 1+ so the specification mirrors a lot of that tech. So, from my end, this review is going to feel very familiar. Like the 1+, the Touch features an innovative High-Performance Audio Mode that uses hi-fi grade amplification technology, the same method of amplification found in the company’s award-winning CX range of premium amplifiers. Also like the 1+’s, Cambridge Audio implemented 7mm drivers enhanced with graphene, a lightweight material selected for its outstanding strength and rigidity. These qualities offer the dynamism and response needed to deliver the Melomania Touch’s incredible sound quality, resulting in deeper controlled bass, realistic voices, and clearer highs. The Melomania app is leveraged for the Touch as well. I grew to be a fan of the app as I got to customize the eq to my liking. I imagine this will carry forward for this experience too.

The true wireless design incorporates Bluetooth 5.0 technology for strong signal stability and the latest AAC and aptX codecs – meaning all smartphone users can stream high-quality wireless audio without signal drops even in busy areas. Additionally, the inclusion of two high-quality microphones and Qualcomm’s Clear Voice Capture (cVc) noise-canceling technology ensures that voice calls over smartphones, tablets and laptops remain crisp, clear, and free from background noise during working from home meetings on Microsoft Teams, Skype, Zoom and other collaboration tools.

What’s notably different are the design of the earbuds, the addition of touch controls, and the larger charging/carrying case.

The headphones “are crafted using data points from over 3,000 pairs of ears to ensure the perfect combination of long-lasting comfort, noise isolation, and immersive sound quality.” They are light, like six grams light, and are supplied with multiple silicone ear tips and selectable fins for that perfect fit. Melomania Touch controls are built for the demands of real-world use. Control seems to be fairly intuitive, tap on the earbuds to play and pause music, skip tracks, change volume, and take hands-free calls. So that would cover commutes, workouts, and those dreaded Zoom & Teams video calls (ugh!).

The Melomania Touch’s battery life is rated at 45 hours. In Low Power Mode, the Melomania Touch true wireless earbuds have 9 hours of battery on a single charge. And you can fully recharge the headphones more than four times over using the supplied charging case – resulting in a further 36 hours of truly wireless listening. In High-Performance Audio Mode, you’ll get around 7 hours of battery life on the earbuds, and up to a further 28 hours via the charging case. The compact charging case is finished in premium microfiber leather and sports a fast-charging USB-C port.
