Announced at CES 2019, the JBL 4312G is a decidedly retro-looking but forward-thinking take on the company’s classic studio monitors from the late ’60s and early ’70s.

The speaker is a 3-way, front ported design that features a 12-inch pulp cone woofer, a 5-inch doped pulp cone midrange, and a 1-inch magnesium/aluminum dome tweeter. Each speaker is also equipped with a tweeter and midrange level control to help compensate for room issues due to placement. The speakers are sold in mirror-imaged pairs and can be either vertically or horizontally oriented.

With an MSRP of $2500.00 for a pair, these speakers sure tick a number of “nostalgia” boxes for me on looks alone. I am very interested to see how they perform using their updated 21st-century technology.
