If looks alone would indicate the quality of this phono preamplifier, I’d be hard pressed not to proclaim the EAT E-Glo S a winner; this unit is simply beautiful, with Macassar wood side panels!

But not only from an aesthetic point of view, but it’s expression of function – exposed and protected gain stage vacuum tubes, poking through the top, clearly indicate their role. The front panel, simple and elegant also give some indication of the ability for adjustments on the fly with their LED indicators, as does the top rocker switches.

Inside the vacuum tubes work with the solid-state circuitry, taking advantage of the hybrid design, which I will explore. The rear, as simple as can be, just a pair of RCA input and output jacks.

Additionally, I was struck by the external 18V, 1amp power supply, meaning there is no need for an internal power supply, needing to be partitioned or isolated from the circuitry.
