BenQ ups their projector game every year and 2019 is no different.

BenQ HT3550 Ultra HD DLP Projector

They’ve sent me their latest CinePrime HT3550 Ultra HD Projector that is one of the first compact DLPs to offer DCI-P3 color. In addition, it has 3840×2160-pixel resolution from a single-chip light engine using XPR technology. HDR10 and HLG is supported with a unique feature BenQ calls HDR-PRO. It addresses the challenges of producing HDR from projectors and creates a high-contrast effect that will rival many flat panels.

Last year, BenQ shook up the market with its value-priced HT2550. That projector impressed me with its clarity, smooth motion processing, and solid HDR. For 2019, they’ve added the final element – a wide color gamut. Delivering 95% of DCI-P3, the CinePrime HT3550 will bring brilliant color to all your Ultra HD content, whether it comes from a disc or a stream.

Two HDMI 2.0b inputs will accept signals up to 3840×2160 at 60Hz with either HDR10 or Hybrid Log Gamma. Using HDR-PRO, the projector increases contrast in an effective way. Also new this year is an auto-iris. This is something I’ve wished for and I can’t wait to check out some movies and run the benchmark tests. If I know BenQ, the HT3550 will be accurate to a fault while providing a bright, sharp picture. Stay tuned for my full review coming very soon!
