Page 49 - Denon Denon was off site at the Aladdin this year in a quiet set of rooms that felt worlds away from the LVCC. The big news at Denon was that Dolby TrueHD, dts-HD Master Audio and HDMI 1.3 would be coming to their receivers later this year. In addition Denon was also talking about advanced connectivity, with new networking options, GUIs and HD Radio. I was also excited to see that they will be supporting flac, a very useful lossless audio format. Denon had a number of receivers on display, but most of them were not finalized as far as specs and pricing. However, one could appreciate Denon's new styling, which features a new and elegantly curved front face plate. Of the receivers on display, the most complete model seemed to be the 4308CI seen below. The other new receiver was the 5308, but this was merely a cosmetic mock up as one can see from the blank back panel. It should also be noted that the 5308 is not a replacement for the 5805, which will continue on as Denon's flagship receiver. Denon also showed new separates, but the boxes were merely cosmetic mockups, so it's impossible to say what the final feature set of these units will actually look like. I'll certainly be looking forward to learning more about these units as they get closer to production. Go to CES 2007 Show Report Index.
