A Factory Tour of McIntosh Labs - 2006

Part II

January, 2007

Piero Gabucci

McIntosh winds their own transformers (actually an "Autoformer", which only has a primary coil, but no secondary).

Here is an autoformer before it gets placed in hot tar and put into a metal case (this is called a "potted" transformer).

Final testing and assembly.

Everything must pass by Shirley, who checks it all over for any scratches before shipment.

Here's one of their latest products, a projector, called the MDLP1. The famous logo is there too.

This is the equipment rack in the back of their theater. All this McIntosh gear probably weighs as much as JJ's SUV. Gotta love those VU meters in blue.
