So I guess I jumped the gun when I said CES was packed. (For my personal taste, more then 5 people in a room is enough) It was only packed according to who had the latest model of whatever was on display. CES 2009 will definitely show lower numbers of attendees than in the past. But one thing is for sure. Home Theater and the latest electronics have a niche in the economy.
We are taking a different approach on our CES 2009 Show Report. We have asked our team to spend their time on overall impressions of the developments in hometheater and audio technology, take some pictures along the way, and identify the best products for our review team over the next few months.
We are very interested in the Blu-ray player offerings and this looks to be a good year for many new players. We will be amping up our reviews of these players now that there are many, good quality players, hitting the market.
Also, we are really interested in the 4k ultra high resolution TV technology and 3D TV Technology.
On the audio front, the wireless technology is of great interest, so we will be reporting on new developments here.
And we will be reporting on some special events that are embargoed at this time.......
If you have some questions about products or some of the technology you are hearing about, let us know....make a comment and we will forward to the coverage team!
So, beginning on Monday, look for our overall impressions and reports on these areas of interest and others as well. Also we will be posting all of the pictures beginning Monday, and through the week...but just to get started with a few pics......and comments...we did want to share a little of the Blu-ray player coverage....and remember, this is just a snapshot from Cynthia on the first day!!

So the LG booth was the first stop. I was on a Blu-ray mission. The BD 300 that was shown at Cedia 2008 is finally available. But wait! New models were being shown. The BD 370 which comes with Cinema Now and You Tube streaming capabilities, will be available in March 09.
The LG BD 390 with a 1 gig memory will be shipping in June of 09.
Off to Panasonic where they were ushering everyone over to see the SC-BT300. This is a 7.1 CH Blu-Ray Disc Home Theater System. Estimated ship date is Spring of this year.
Panasonic was also showing the first portable Blu-Ray Disc player. DMP-B15 has a 1020x60 panel with an estimated MSRP $799 to be shipping in June.
Samsung had a wall mountable Blu-Ray player, BDB 4600 or a non mountable one, BDP 3600. Your choice. No MSRP or ship date was given. Granted I was pushed out of the way during my photo shoot. Next!
Pioneer had new ones too! Wasn't everything new at Cedia 2008? They were showing an entry level Blu-Ray player, BDP-120. HDMI 1.3A output with 36 bit deep color support. Not enough? They also were showing the BDP-320. HDMI 1.3A output with 48 bit deep color support. This also comes with a 1 gig of internal BD live memory.
