PARADIGM INTRODUCES THE PDR v.4 SERIES SUBWOOFERS

The international leader in speaker design reinvents its classic, best-value subwoofer with design enhancements and added features not found in any
other budget subwoofer

Toronto, Canada – April 23, 2008 – The best performance and value offering in the budget subwoofer market just got even better. Working under the principle of “tweaking for perfection,” Paradigm introduces its fourth generation of PDR subwoofers with design enhancements and added features that deliver the superb definition and deep bass impact for which this lineup has long been known—as well as subtle improvements to the models’ external appearance.

“As a leader in speaker design and technology, Paradigm is committed to continuously upgrading existing product lines as our research and design team makes new breakthroughs,” said Paradigm’s Marketing Manager, Mark Aling. “Our dealers and our cus???ers expect Paradigm to be on the cutting edge, and ‘tweaking for perfection’ has become a company mantra in this pursuit. Nowhere is this more evident than in the release of our PDR Series v.4 subwoofers.”

New to both the PDR-8 and PDR-10 are reinforced polymer-composite cones on the 8? and 10? single forward-firing drivers. The new cone material ensures excellent rigidity and superb internal damping. Two RCA (L/R-Mono) line-level inputs have been added to accommodate
L/R line or Sub-Outputs as well as LFE-Outputs for receivers, processors and other line-level sources. In the previous generation, only larger models offered Auto-On/Off; now both models offer this feature.

The new sub/sat phase alignment switch for 0 degrees or 180 degrees allows users to adjust subwoofer settings to avoid “wave cancellation,” which occurs when there are sound waves going forward and equal sound waves going backward in a room, thereby canceling each other out. A subwoofer that is 180 degrees out-of-phase with the main speakers would lead to an audible decrease in bass response. The phase alignment switch allows listeners to compensate for this scenario. In addition, both models feature a bypass option on the subwoofer
cut-off frequency.

From an aesthetic perspective, the PDR Series flexes its cosmetic muscle with new, sleek curved edges that give the cabinet a much more lifestyle-friendly design. Grilles are now removable, adding another level of cus???ization for users.

Both models are available in Black or Silver. Specifications are as follows:

PDR-8 v.4 – 8? (210 mm) cone; 300 watts Dynamic Peak/100 watts RMS. 14 in high
x 12 in wide x 14-3/8 in deep; 35.6 cm x 30.5 cm x 36.2 cm. 24 lb / 10.9 kg.
