NAD Expands VISO 1 Category with Apple AirPlay

Award-Winning Model Combines Wi-Fi Network Capability with Direct-Digital Technology, Advanced Acoustics Elegant Industrial Design

CEDIA Expo, Indianapolis, IN, September 5, 2012 -– NAD Electronics, the highly regarded manufacturer of high-performance audio/video components, expands its VISO Series with the new NAD VISO 1 AP, a complete digital device that offers Wi-Fi network capability and supports Apple AirPlay. Like its sibling, the highly acclaimed NAD VISO 1 unveiled here at CEDIA 2011, VISO 1 AP is a game-changing wireless digital music system with a platform that remains solidly true to NAD’s brand values of performance, simplicity, innovation, and value.

For instant connectivity to smartphones and tablets, the NAD VISO 1 AP has also included high fidelity aptX Bluetooth. The NAD VISO 1 AP features a rear USB port for connection and charging of Apple iOS devices, eliminating the need for a docking cradle. A USB input and a 24/96 capable optical input is perfect for connecting many digital devices, as well.

Acoustic design is provided by NAD’s sister company, PSB Speakers, and is fully integrated with NAD’s Direct Digital amplification to create a remarkable synergy. The product’s elegant design is the work of the acclaimed New York design firm, DF-ID, whose principal, David Farrage has contributed to many other world-class designs in and outside the CE industry. Best of all, the NAD VISO 1 AP is easy to set up and simple to operate allowing music lovers to quickly and intuitively stream their music right from their music library.

“From the outset, our mission with NAD VISO 1 was to bring NAD’s unmatched leadership in digital innovation to a whole new generation of music lovers while establishing itself as a true high-end sound system designed for those who demand the best in sound.” explained Greg Stidsen, NAD’s Director of Technology and Product Planning. “With NAD VISO 1 AP, we now expand that to an even wider audience with the addition of Wi-Fi and Apple AirPlay.”

Over the past twelve months, the original NAD VISO 1 has set a new performance standard for its category while it raised the bar for flexibility and connectivity. Either NAD VISO 1 model can be utilized as the main playback device for a flat panel TV.

The NAD VISO 1 AP incorporates NAD’s highest-end Direct Digital DAC/amplifier technology, with sound quality that rivals component systems costing exponentially more. In fact, it uses the same Direct Digital technology that has revolutionized digital amplification, first seen in the company’s $6000 Masters Series M2 DAC/Amplifier. As a pure digital platform with no analog circuits, this innovation creates an absolute silence; instruments seem to appear out of a totally black background, enhancing dynamics and imaging.

Engineered by the original groundbreaking design team that created NAD’s legendary 3020 Amplifier, the NAD VISO 1 was refined and exhaustively tweaked by pioneering speaker designer Paul Barton, of award-winning sister company PSB Speakers, at the National Research Council in Canada, one of the most sophisticated audio testing facilities in the world. Utilizing the processing power inherent in the Direct Digital technology allows the speakers to be optimized for sonic performance.

The NAD VISO 1 AP will be available in November, in White or Black finishes, for $600 MSRP.
